Mark Sutton has been the Visualizations Coordinator for two NASA Earth Satellite Missions, a multimedia consultant, organic farmer, lecturer and photographer. He helped produce a vegan cookbook No More Bull! by Howard Lyman (aka, "The Mad Cowboy"), designed, developed, & produced several DVDs for Howard including: The Mad Cowboy Documentary, worked with two Nobel Peace Prize winners on Global Climate Change, the White House, several Federal Agencies at the highest levels, and has published in TIME, Newsweek, Scientific American, and Science among other media.
He produced the first ever animation of "El Nino" from actual sea surface temperature data (for NOAA), and his multimedia visualization work has been shown to or by the Administrators of NASA, NOAA, Congress, the Director of the National Weather Service, and the Secretaries of Interior, Agriculture, and Commerce.
Mark was also part of a non-profit team that created, implemented, and wrote manuals for a novel experimental "World Core Curriculum" (still available at the UN Bookstore), the team was awarded a UN Peace Medal for their efforts. He has also supported many Animal Rights Conferences as Head Photographer.
In 1996, realizing that all the traveling, consulting, and computer work was contributing to his become obese, Mark went on a very low fat diet & vegetarian lifestyle inspired by Dr. Dean Ornish, enabling him to lose over 70 lbs. of weight in 4 1/2 months. He's since maintained this weight loss plus or minus a couple of pounds (!).
Vegetarian for 20 years, plant-based the past 15 (9 1/2 years no-oil, inspired by interviewing Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn), Mark edits the Mad Cowboy e-newsletter, started one of the 1st vegan blogs in 2005, and self-published the 1st vegan pizza cookbook,"Heart Healthy Pizza: Over 100 Plant-Based Recipes for the Healthiest Pizza in the World." He's demonstrated his recipes on Cable TV and engaged in many interviews on radio and podcasts about his book.
He is currently co-hosting "The Dr. Don Radio Show" on "Health and Wellness" (broadcast across a tri-State area and streamed on the Internet), producing the PlantPure Nation Radio Show, and is a T. Colin Campbell Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate Graduate. Mark has guest-written articles and book reviews for many online blogs and magazines (including the Nutrition Studies Program and Vegan Culinary Experience), and has co-created and managed a 6,000 sq. ft. organic vegetable garden for over a decade.
He is determined to do all he can to help spread the plant-based whole foods message to reverse and prevent chronic diseases, and facilitate and enable the incredible restorative powers of this lifestyle, for human health, the animals, and the environment.
